We Love our LifePlan Volunteers!
Volunteers and community partners play an important role at LifePlan. We could not exist in our community without the every day, individual volunteers who give their time to serve those in our community. Through their contributions of time, energy, inspiration and expertise, volunteers often report they receive more than they give.
LifePlan Ministry Team Members use their skills and talents on a regular basis to help people choose life and live a Hope-filled life. The minimum time commitment for a Ministry Team Member is one 4-hour shift per week for one year. All Ministry Team Members undergo an application process that includes background checks, references, and personal interviews. In-depth training is provided before Ministry Team Members begin working with clients. If you would like to be a Ministry Team Member, please call us at 269-684-6200.
Who We Are
Caring, confidential support to women facing pregnancy and family related issues is the focus of LifePlan of Niles and Benton Harbor, Michigan. All our services are without any discrimination, and often extend to the family or significant others related to the woman. Lots of our clients come for a confidential pregnancy test, but many come for maternity and baby clothing or other supplies. We strive to graciously provide an opportunity for each client to hear the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is our ongoing support from our partners, sponsors and volunteers that allows LifePlan to continue serving those in need in our community.
Medical Team
- Provide grace-filled consultations and medical services such as pregnancy tests and ultrasounds
- Provide applicable referrals both in-house (Life Matters program, mentoring, etc) or to outside agencies (Medical Professionals, other social services, etc)
- Provide accurate Gospel-centered information and mentoring concerning abortion, sexual health, pre-natal care, and other LifePlan services
- Attend volunteer training and in-service meetings
- Keep accurate and confidential client records
- Be licensed in the state of Michigan

Boutique Helpers
- Inspect and organize donated items and display them properly in the boutique
- Assist with changing boutique items to match the season of the year
- Help keep the boutique clean and well-organized
- Keep client services director informed of any needed materials for the boutique
- Mark expiration dates on donated food items and keep boutique free of anything past the expiration date
- Maintain a friendly disposition towards all clients, staff, and volunteers
Consultants (Mentors)
- Provide crisis intervention and support for each client in an atmosphere of warmth and compassion through listening and other helping skills
- Look for teachable moments with a client in order to share the love of Jesus and His plan of salvation
- Provide accurate information on abortion, parenting, adoption, foster care, and other LifePlan services
- Follow all policies and procedures regarding intake and in-office duties
- Offer support, material resources, and referrals appropriate to a client’s situation
- Maintain all client records as indicated in LifePlan policies and guidelines
- Attend volunteer staff or in-service meetings
- Maintain task assignments/status reports
Receptionists
- As an ambassador of Jesus Christ, promote a positive impression of LifePlan by assisting those making contact via email, phone, chat, in person, or through other means
- Support the smooth functioning of LifePlan by assisting with administrative and clerical tasks
- Be able to respect and keep information confidential
- Have a friendly, clearly understood voice
- Be able to perform routine clerical duties
- Answer phone and route calls
- Schedule appointments according to LifePlan’s guidelines and procedures
- Greet clients and offer refreshments if available
- Perform opening or closing duties, as necessary, when serving on the first or last shift of the day
- Attend volunteer in-service training and meetings
